Portrait of my daughter, Jennifer Leigh Jacobs. Dated 1987. It's the only one I have of it's kind. Black framed. Age 4, red hair, blue and white nautical style dress. There was one print portrait and one charcoal color drawing. Both approximately 18" wide 24" tall. Lost in the surge from Caplen Shores. Will pay $500.00 for recovery of either.

I've lost much more but this is all that matters to me.

Thanks

FOUND a "mirror" approx. 14 in. round in Canal City on my property at 1063 Mabry Street. The mirror looks very old; probably was either in a vanity or frame before Ike got a hold of it! The mirror looks as if it has been "embelished". (by the owners)

Email me if it is yours . . .

We had a beach house near the ships wheel on Sea Spray. My father-in-laws boat was in garage. Since he has passed away I would love to try and find the boat for my wife. It is a older wood hull boat with a painted white 14' hull (I think) that has the steering wheel in the back not the front. It had an old red mercury engine on the back with the metal cowling inside of the boat. The tags on the boat expired in 70 or 72. It floated off of the trailer since it is still there. If you have seen it, or think you may have seen it, please let me know. rockymyers@aol.com

My Sister and Brother-in-Law had a house on Deen’s road, which is the last road before you get to Rollover Pass and across the highway from Claud’s. Their house apparently was demolished and we are not sure if the Surf left any of the land in that area. They had a sign approximately 12”X12” that said “Tim’s Fish House” it had carvings of a fish on it. If someone finds it, it would mean a lot to us if we were able to get it back. If found please contact ct_oakley@yahoo.com

Thanks so much for putting this website together. My husband and I owned a cabin at Pearl Beach on Mary Ann Street, right before you get to Howell Street. I know the furniture my dad built is long gone and/or ruined, but we would love to have our sign "Bahamawannabe" that was on the front of the house back. It is wooden and has the name carved into it. If anyone happens to see it, please email me at brennansmimi@yahoo.com. Thanks again, Lisa!

My family had just bought a house in Sandy Shores. A friend had given us an original work of art that was done on a surfboard. The board probably floated a long way, but there is a chance that it got stuck in debris. Would drive to pick it up anywhere.

Good thoughts to all!

Looking for the sign to my friends beach house in Caplen on Dolly Street.
The sign states "Sweet Pea" it was made of a hard plastic and I believe it's out there somewhere, in fact you may find it attached to a piece of sheet rock from the kitchen but there was also another sign not attached to anything. I know it's not much but it would mean everything to me and my friends.

7'4" white hurricane surfboard signature James Fulbright made for Project Prom (maybe date '99) huge sentimental value.

quilts:
2 red, white, and blue, with American Flag...lap quilts
several others but one very special don't know the pattern but Triangles in squares in reds, whites, and blues. Again great sentimental value.

I know this is spitting in the wind but I had a large jar (faded white sticker may still be on it some candle scent)with a wooden lid full of beach glass my grandkids filled for me (as I'm sure all grandkids did) I was not even going to post but while looking last weekend saw a jar with lid and soaps I think...so thought perhaps there was a chance.

Thank you for the site...we were on S.Fisherman's and like others everything is gone.

Am trying to gather history of our little house...it belonged to "The Twins" any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Lost.... Our Beach House in Crystal Beach. Would love to hear from someone who road out the storm in Crystal Beach and the wind was so strong that it blew your cabin apart BEFORE the water came up to your door. Our Insurance Company asked for a witness to say the cabin fell apart before the water took it away. So, did you ride out the storm and live to tell about it?
Thanks! Denise & Albert "The Sea Shack"

we are from the Alberdie addition and we lost several paintings(water colors and oils)and charcoal drawings that a dear friend of ours painted and drew.
We found a water color in perfect shape, which gives us hope that others may have survived and even been found.
Also lost were three guitars(all in their cases) and one alto saxophone in it's case.
Please email us if any of this stuff is found.

Kris,
We had a home in Tidelands and the neighbors mention your mom and her little dog often. We are all very sorry. One neighbor told me that someone had found a picture of a man in military uniform and wondered if it might belong to your mom. We didn't live there full time so, I am really not that familiar with those who did. If you think it might be your mom's picture, I can put you in touch with someone who did live there full time and knows about the picture. Once again, I am so very sorry. The "not knowing" is probably the hardest part.

Yes, why isn't there an airport hanger filled with all our memories it took several lifetimes to build. It's bad enough people are heartless enough to want to steal our precious belongings, but no effort to help in our recovery process is shameful.

Anonymous said...

I've read the last comments about people taking others possessions and why weren't they being gathered for someone to claim and feel I must comment. The first day we were allowed in, there were few items on the ground, or around the homes. Anything found, most set them out for the owners to find, and those were forks, knives, a pan, broken china, tools and that's pretty much it. I've been there several times and very little was left. Believe me, if the refrigerators, hot water heaters, stoves, televisions, sinks and furniture are not there, how could you expect delicate fragile items to survive in any quantity. If they were delicate and light enough to float, they are out to sea or Goat Island.

Rebuilding must occur, the septic tank water prevelant all over must be cleaned up for health reasons.

Last time I was there, I picked up an item and put it in the found section to hopefully find the owner. Otherwise, it was going to be buried when renovation begins.

I know it is sad to lose your lifetime possessions, I feel the same. But, place the blame on Ike, not others.

Three framed charcoal drawing and two that were not.
All of these were of figures, or people that we know.
Two still life oil paintings and one huge dark colored oil painting of a person.
I don't know if any signatures will be visible but the artist is Steve Hodges.

Originally at Cloon/SeaSpray

*** HS diploma from White Oak HS (glass in frame)
*** wooden rocking horse, handmade for our son by his uncle
*** quilts made by my mom - one was peach with appliques& the other was a log cabin mismatched pattern
*** family Bibles (more than likely destroyed by the water so holding out little hope on these)
*** newborn outfit - Dallas Cowboys sweats (25 years old - was in an antique cedar chest with other baby items)

You can contact us at http://www.qualitygeek.com

BTW, we found some fragile items from our home - we found about 10 of over 100 shot glasses. We found 4 steins of about 20 intact & undamaged. We found some of my aunt's china, but none of the pink depression glass. The china was buried on our lot under some debris from our neighbors across Cloon. We found 2 margarita glasses & 4 drinking glasses & the insert for my crockpot. We found NONE of our furniture which one would think was sturdier than a margarita glass or a stein.

Some fragile items DID survive.

I had a house on N. Redfish close to Stingaree Restaurant area. I'm hoping someone has maybe picked up any of the following:

3 shell-shaped pillows
Dark pink/light pink comforter
Rodeway Inn shower curtain
Pink baby receiving blanket
Bowling Pin lamp
Round disc with oriental designs
Small metal figurine with "Chris" on it
Antique oval mirror

If you have any of these items, please call (409)296-2824 or email catlady08@windstream.net

FYI For lost items ...you may consider posting on the bulletin board in the Bolivar Post office. I understand individuals in the township have made numerous trips to goat island and have recovered items. Why they haven't posted found items is beyond me ...maybe no computer???

I have not been to Crystal Beach since the hurricane. My home was located on Thompson Drive in Caplan Few things have been found but I would love to find a handmade sign that said "God Bless our Home" It was carved on a plank of cypress, it means very much to me and I would love to have it back
